Weekends spent in beautiful natural surroundings can
be a rejuvenating experience, as these areas are usually far from noise, crowds
and pollution. A Corbett weekend tour
provides a similar setting for tourists who wish to witness amazing landscapes
and different kinds of wild animals. Over the past few years, there has been a
significant growth in the number of tourists visiting this national park. Though
tourist activities are allowed only in certain areas of this region, there is
plenty of excitement and adventure in store for visitors of this wildlife
reserve. In recent times, the management of Jim Corbett National Park has taken
several initiatives to encourage eco-tourism in this area which would further
increase its popularity in days to come.
Named after Edward James Corbett, popularly known as
Jim Corbett, this wildlife sanctuary is considered to be the oldest of its kind
in India. Jim Corbett was a British hunter, who had hunted down several
man-eating leopards and tigers in this region. He eventually established Hailey
National Park after becoming increasingly concerned about the future of tigers
and their habitat. This park was renamed after him, acknowledging his immense
contribution towards the welfare of locals and conservation of endangered
species. A major portion of this wildlife reserve is covered by moist deciduous
forest consisting of several species of trees, birds and wild animals.
This eco-tourist's paradise is situated in Nainital,
which is a famous hill-station and district in Uttarakhand State of India. People
intending to visit Jim Corbett National Park can either travel by trains or
buses as the town of Ramnagar is well-connected with the neighbouring cities
through rail and road. Nearest airport is located at New Delhi, which offers a
convenient point of access for domestic and international tourists travelling
by air. This national park enjoys a pleasant climate for most part of the year,
but winter mornings can be foggy and heavy rainfall can be experienced on
certain days during the monsoon season. Best time to visit this amazing
wildlife reserve is between mid-November to mid-June, when the climate is
extremely pleasant and perfectly suited for tourism.
